Sexual Violence Policy

Safety in Important Cornwall Aviation is dedicated to providing a safe environment for its staff and students. Sexual Violence Policy Cornwall Aviation (1979) Ltd. values respect and dignity for all. A person affected by sexual violence should ask to speak privately to the dispatcher on duty, who can aid and assist the person to support and services. If the person wishes to contact police they may ask for assistance in doing so. All information regarding the person will be kept confidential for their protection. Cornwall Aviation management will work to accommodate needs of students affected and students are not required to report an incident or make a complaint about sexual violence in order to obtain support and services or the accommodation referred to above. Information about the support and services available in the community: Cornwall Community Hospital Assault and Sexual Abuse Program (613) 932-3300 ext. 4202. Assaulted Womens’ Helpline (866) 863-0511 Sexual Assault Support Services for Women (24 hr) (613) 932-1755. The victim may choose not to request an investigation by the college, and has the right not to participate in any investigation that may occur. Reported incidents investigated by the college, and the decision-making processes, shall include meetings with the parties involved and there will be at least two Company officials or their designated managers involved in the processes. All parties involved will be given the right to explain their position in a fair manner. A party to an investigation or decision-making process has the right to have a person present with him or her at every stage of the process. Pending the conclusion the party under investigation may be suspended from campus and if found to have behaved inappropriately may be expelled. All participating persons will be told to protect and keep confidential the personal information of the persons involved in the matter. Persons may request an appeal by submitting their request in writing to the Manager. Any staff member who is made aware of sexual violence on campus shall report the matter immediately to the dispatcher who will contact the Manager. 1. If students, in good faith, report an incident of, or make a complaint about, sexual violence, they will not be subject to discipline or sanctions for violations of the private career college's policies relating to drug or alcohol use at the time of the alleged sexual violence occurred; 2. Students who disclose their experience of sexual violence through reporting an incident of, making a complaint about, or accessing supports and services for sexual violence, will not be asked irrelevant questions during the investigation process be the private career college's staff or investigators, including irrelevant questions relating to the student's sexual expression or past sexual history.
